Anna Jo Kauffman

Anna Jo Kauffman, a beloved nurse and cherished member of the Levelland community, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on June 17, 1954, in Levelland, Texas, Anna dedicated her life to caring for others, living a life rooted deeply in her Christian faith and service to the Lord.

Anna grew up in Levelland and was a proud graduate of Levelland High School, where she earned her cosmetology license. From an early age, she demonstrated a commitment to excellence and service, as evidenced by her achievement of 22 Girl Scout badges. Furher pursuing her passion for caregiving, Anna attended the Methodist School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas. Upon graduation, she devoted an extraordinary 43 years to nursing, contributing her skills and compassion at Methodist Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Covenant Hospital. She further extended her expertise with eight years at the Dialysis Center of Lubbock and served as a research nurse for Dr. Ronaghan in Lubbock. In the latter part of her career, she served at the Levelland Hospital, where her dedication touched many lives.

After retiring from nursing, Anna remained an active and valued member of the local community. She found great joy in spending time with her family and friends, always extending kindness and love to those around her. Her deepest desire was to live a Christ-like life, earnestly serve the Lord, and lead others to Jesus, embodying faith in all that she did.

Anna is survived by her sister, Karon Sumrow of Seminole, TX; her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Jeanna Kauffman of Levelland, TX; as well as nephews Heath Sumrow and Deann Sumrow of Levelland, TX, Justin Sumrow of Seminole, TX, Cody Kauffman of Sudan, TX, Bryan and Tiara Hodges and Chase Hodges of Kerrville, TX; nieces April and Zane Neal of Gardendale, TX, Casi and Jason Thedford of Nevada, TX; thirteen great nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews. Her family remains a testament to the love and warmth she fostered throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jeff Kauffman, Jr., and mother, Betty Jo Kauffman; paternal grandparents A.J. and Annie Kauffman; maternal grandparents J.D. and Jodie Pinkston; her sister Sharon Hodges; and brother-in-law Bill Hodges.

A Memorial Service in honor of Anna Jo Kauffman will be held on June 30, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 401 Houston Street, Levelland, TX 79336. Family, friends, and all who knew and loved Anna are invited to gather to celebrate her remarkable life and lasting legacy of compassion, faith, and service.
