Christy Lynn Childress

Christy Lynn Childress, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 9, 2025, at the age of 56. She was born on June 27, 1969, to Charles and Lana Caswell.

She spent her life making people smile. She grew up in Smyer, Texas where she was involved in high school sports, band, and FFA. After high school, she obtained her certified nursing assistant certification at South Plains College. She had a passion for helping others, especially children and the elderly. Her world revolved around her 4 daughters and her 10 grandchildren. She most enjoyed supporting her daughters and grandchildren in their various sports and activities. She spoke her mind whether it was asked for or not and lived with a belief that rules were merely suggestions. She was as quick with a witty comeback as she was with a hug.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law Julie and Jim Jourden, Dana Schafer and Wesley Dodge, Jessica Childress and Jacobi Morado, Kaci Harmon and Adrian Mojica, as well as her mother Lana Caudle, sister and brother-in-law Darla and Tad Sinclair and sister-in-law Patsy Davis.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Vannah and Brenna Jourden, Holden and Quinn Dodge, Mia Childress, Ian and Sky Morado, Jaxon and Jetson Mojica as well as her nieces and nephews Ashley Cox, Melanie Kirton and Dennis Pawelski, Joshua Kirton, Caleb Kirton, Levi Sinclair and great nieces McKenna Harris and Sophia Pawelski.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Kayla Court, grandson Jameson Mojica, brother Jimmy Davis and her father’s Charles Caswell and John Caudle.

She will be remembered most for her sense of humor, her fierce devotion to her family and her faith in God. She loved fiercely - sometimes loudly – but always with her whole heart. She knew how to laugh at life’s curveballs and left a lasting impression with all who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday August 16, 2025, at 4:00 pm at The Grove at Stone Creek Special Event Center located at 4807 north county road 1700, Shallowater, Texas 79363 (3.5 miles north on Milwaukee from 4th Street in Lubbock) with dinner will follow.
