Doyal Clayton Snead

Doyal Clayton Snead, 62, was reunited with his wife and son in heaven on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 12th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland, TX.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at Krestridge Funeral Home on Thursday, April 13th from 9:00am – 11:00am.  Interment will immediately follow at the Levelland Cemetery.

Clayton was born, January 28, 1961 in Lovington, NM to Doyal Edward Snead and Welda JoAnn Snead.  He married Jaretta Virginia Bright on August 8, 1981 in Lubbock, TX.  He was the proud Dad of Jimmy Clayton Snead.  His favorite title was Papa to his granddaughter Kambreigh Joy Snead, who he lovingly called “Kami.”

Clayton was one of 9 siblings.  As a large family growing up in Colorado and Texas, Doyal Sr. was considered a “Drill Sergent” having to keep the kids in line.  When the kids would fight, Doyal Sr. would devise wild goose chases to keep them occupied.  One day when the kids were fighting, Doyal Sr. told the kids that he knew one of them took the washer from the water hose.  He told them they had to go find it and bring it back.  The siblings searched high and low and even stole a washer from the neighbor’s water hose!  Every time they would bring it back to their dad, he would say, “nope, that’s not it.  This one does not have enough ridges in it.”  This would go on for hours!

Money was tight and the family had to do their best to make food stretch.  Welda was a good cook and found liver and onions was an easy and inexpensive meal to feed 11 people.  To Clayton’s dismay, they had this meal often.  A meal he and his siblings despise to this day.

Clayton enjoyed fishing and hunting elk.  On fishing trips, Clayton was all business; staying by the water from sun up to sundown.  He loved his dog, Tinker Bell, and treated her like a princess over the last 15 years.  Clayton was onery and loved to laugh, usually at others expense.

Clayton was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Jaretta Snead; son, Jimmy Snead; parents Doyal and Welda Snead; and sister, Lynda Parkerson.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Kambreigh Joy Snead; daughter-in-law, Jessica Snead; honorary son, Michael Kelly and wife Jacy; siblings, Patricia Kelly and husband Kenneth, Theresa Williams, Sharon Snead, Dianne Yelvington, Wayne Snead and wife Cindy, Randy Snead and wife Robin, and Christine Beadles and husband Brent; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at  Krestridge Funeral Home of Levelland, TX.
