Eliazar “Eli” Gonzales, 66, of Levelland passed from this life on February 24, 2024. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.
He was born May 20, 1957 in Robstown to Benito Sr. and Gregoria Gonzales. Eli moved to Brownfield in the early 1960’s and attended Brownfield schools until moving to Levelland in 1971. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1976. Eli attended SPC and worked in restaurant management for several years before working in sales for oil supply companies until his retirement.
Eli married Ruth, the love of his life on March 11, 1978. Eli and Ruth had two children, Becki and Oscar, and 5 grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Eli enjoyed softball, golf and traveling. He loved watching football, especially the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. Eli was very happy that he got to see the Chiefs win two Super Bowls. His favorite baseball team was the Texas Rangers and he got to see them win the World Series.
Eli was a diehard Trekkie and loved everything Star Trek and collected memorabilia. In his 50s, he started self defense Kajukenbo training with Matthews Martial Arts Odessa. Eli was incredibly inspirational and had a samurai spirit in everything he did. He loved to practice with his sword. He earned his black belt in his 60s.
If Eli was determined to do something, nothing would stop him. He was a competitor, fighter, and a great black belt. His main goal in life was taking care of his wife, children and grandchildren, at which he exceled at on all levels.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; brothers, Oscar Gonzales, Hector Gonzales and Benito Gonzales, Jr.
Eli is survived by his son, Oscar (Kate) Gonzales; daughter, Becki (Freddy) Munoz; sisters, Margarita Longoria and Dalia (Lupe) Reyes; brother, Benjamin (Bonnie) Gonzales; grandchildren, Michael, Elee, Brenda, Tori and Aubrie; and many nieces and nephews.
