Ervin Ray Engledow

Ervin Ray Engledow, 84, of Levelland passed from this life on December 8, 2023.  Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He was born January 3, 1939 in Sundown to Lewis and Ruth Engledow.  Ervin began his trucking career at the age of 14 with Musselwhite Trucking. He met and married Mary Clark in Levelland at the age of 16.  Over the next nine years they had 7 children.

Ervin worked hard to support his young family and often worked two jobs.  He worked for several oil field companies in the area.  Ervin was one of the pioneers in the pumping unit installation industry.  He was featured in several oil field magazines, including Drill Bit Magazine as having the largest tandem rig in he world at that time.  He was recognized as Oil Man of the Year in the State of Texas.  Those who worked with him knew his rigs were custom designed by him.  Ervin retired in 2001.

In June of 2004, he met and married Jimmie Riddle.  He gained another son and daughter.  They spent almost twenty happy years together.

Since his retirement, Ervin has enjoyed spending time with his family and taking his beloved chihuahua, “Paco”, on rides in his pickup to the farm. He loved taking care of the cattle at the farm and enjoyed mowing his lawn with his new riding lawn mower.  Ervin thoroughly enjoyed reading a daily devotion and watching westerns on TV.  Most recently, he helped Prairie Chick Winery bottle their first in-house red wine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Ruth Engledow; brothers, Eddie, Darrell, Gene and Dale Engledow; daughter, Virginia Sue “Susie” Engledow; and son, Kris Riddle.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Jimmie Engledow; daughters, Carol (Larry) Graf, Diane Lane and Karie (Doug) Shipley; sons, Robby (Nancy) Engledow, E. Ray (Jana) Engledow, Jr., Tim (Deborah) Engledow and Danny (Mary) Engledow; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
