Evelyn Pauline Rogers

Evelyn Pauline (Polly) Rogers was born to Johnny Charles and Lorene (Stansberry) Scott on January 13, 1930. She passed from this life on December 18, 2025, and is now dancing with Jesus. She went peacefully surrounded by family after we all prayed over her one last time.

Polly grew up in Wilson, Texas, she was the first born of 11 children. She moved to Lubbock in her teens. She worked at the Hi-D-Ho drive in as a car hop and modeled clothes for Margaret’s dress shop on Broadway. She married Harvey Young in 1949, and he passed in 1964. They had three children, Harvey, Norbert and Debra. Polly remarried in 1973 to Johnny K. Rogers, who passed in 1984. Several years later she married Buck Cunningham who passed in 1997.

Polly owned and operated Amarillo Bail Bonds from 1972 until 2006 during a time when few women did. She was a strong independent full of life woman who would do anything for anyone. Her strength and determination were inspiring to all those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Lorene Scott, and her brothers Charles V. Scott, Douglas Scott, Johnnie Charles Scott, and Ronnie Scott and a granddaughter, Janci Johnson.

She is survived by 2 brothers, Sinky Scott and Jerry Scott and 4 sisters, Wynona Kitchens, Dorothy Young, Rita Castner, and Linda Sheets. Her three children, Harvey Young, Norbert Young and Debra Johnson. Polly had 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren with her 6th expected soon. She had a great capacity for love – evident in the way she loved her family and grandchildren, and how dearly they loved her in return.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Fellowship Church senior program in Lubbock, Texas where Polly enjoyed and spent time in her later years.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, beginning at 1 pm at the City of Levelland Cemetery.
