J. Pointer

Services for J.C. Pointer, 104, who passed away on December 1, 2018, will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Hattie (Robinson) Pointer; sisters, Leota Bennett Hatton and Audie Russell; and brother, Ed Pointer.

J.C. is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his daughters, Janice and husband Bill Strickland of Surprise, AZ, and Freda and husband Bobby Sparkman of Levelland, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Strickland of Phoenix, AZ, Melonie Richards of Littleton, CO, Michelee McGeath of Carlsbad, NM, and Marlo Etchison of Lubbock, Texas; and 10 great grandchildren.

J C was born in Shive, Hamilton County, Texas on November 13, 1914. J C married Marjorie Crow on December 23, 1935 and lived in the Ropesville area until 1986, at which time they moved to Levelland. They were married for 83 years.

J C farmed for over 50 years. He was a charter member and active in the First Baptist Church of Ropesville where he taught Sunday School. J C was a founding member of the Ropesville Co-op Gin, past President of the Farm Bureau, member of the Ropesville School Board, and Director of the Soil Conservation Board for many years. J C and Marjorie were selected as Farm Family of the Year. He was an active member of the Senior Citizen Center at Ropesville and Levelland.

He loved his family dearly and nothing thrilled him more than having each of them by his side. J C will be missed by his family and his memory will be cherished by each of them.
