James Tell Campbell

James Tell Campbell, 35, of Levelland, Texas, entered into the loving arms of our Father on the 24th of February, 2024.

Tell was the best of us. He was born in the middle of his favorite season on July 5, 1988 in Lubbock, Texas to Jim Campbell and Shelley Parker Campbell. He graduated from Slaton High School in 2006 and attended South Plains College before going on to Texas Tech University. Tell began his career with BNSF as a Conductor until 2016 when he joined Smith Auto Family and became the Fixed Operations Director. Tell attended Hillside Christian Church and served as a volunteer for many community organizations.

At age 17, Tell held hands with Susan Nicole Sever at the drive-in movies and never let go. They were married on March 16, 2013. On April 9, 2015 they welcomed their son, James Morgan, and on August 1, 2017 they welcomed their daughter, Clara Ruth. To Tell, they were everything and he made sure they knew.

In addition to being a loving husband and father, he was a devoted son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend. He was adored by his family of origin and equally by his family of marriage. His big heart and arms encompassed them all.

Tell led with humility all his life. He had profound wisdom and contagious joy which he abundantly shared with his large family and many treasured friends. Tell was a man of faith and felt strongly that his duty was to witness God’s love by the way he lived and loved those around him. A man of diverse interests, Tell enjoyed travel, cooking, singing along to good music, but most of all, being outside. Whether gardening, tending to his cattle, or just admiring God’s creation, he was happiest outdoors.

Tell is preceded in death by his brother, John Campbell, his paternal grandparents, and maternal grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Nicole Campbell, son, Morgan, and daughter, Clara Ruth; his parents Shelley and Jim Campbell; his brother, Ty Campbell and his children, William and Hunter; his nephew, Reid Campbell, and niece, Kolbie Campbell; his grandmother, Linda “Berf” Parker; his parents-in-law, Annette and Patrick Sykora, and Amy and Steve Sever; his brothers-in-law, Garrett Raible, Holden Sykora and fiancé Haley, Ryan Sykora and wife Andrea; his sisters-in-law, Natalie Raible, Haylee Boyd and husband Zachary, Hannah Grigsby and husband Ian, Savannah Gwinn and her husband Derek; his nieces and nephews, Fischer and Collins Boyd, and Twila and Eliza Gwinn, and Sloan Grigsby. He is survived by many friends whom he loved deeply.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held on March 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Levelland, Texas and officiated by Victor Ledesma of Hillside Christian Church.
