James “Jim” S. Rankin, 76, of Levelland passed from this life on April 28, 2022. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Second Baptist Church Levelland with Pastor Mike Holster and Dr. Sammy Elliott officiation. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
He was born May 12, 1945, in Borger to Orville Cook and Alice LeForce Rankin. Jim graduated from Whiteface High School in 1963. He was stationed in Germany while proudly serving our country in the United States Army.
Jim married Helen on October 16, 1982, at Second Baptist Church Levelland. He retired from Amoco as an automation technician. Jim also served as Emergency Coordinator for Hockley County. He proudly served as the Veteran’s Service Officer for Hockley County for several years.
He was a member and past master of the Levelland Masonic Lodge #1236 A.F. & A.M.
Jim loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim was proud of his service to our country and had an unwavering patriotic spirit. He was a member of Second Baptist Church Levelland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Jerry (Christy) McCord of Levelland, Darby (Kiley) McCord of Newton, Kansas and Scott (Brandi) Rankin of Bushland; daughters, Patty (Kevin) Bracey of Lubbock, Alecia (Jeff) Engle of Grapevine and Mandy (John) Barker of Big Spring; grandchildren, Kelci (Clay) Hooten of Lubbock, Karli (Sabraun) Adams of Seminole, Kayli and Kolbi McCord and their mother Cari of Slaton, Casey (Mikayle) Bracey of Levelland, Cole (Moriah) Bracey of Lubbock, Cade (fiancé Payslee) of Levelland, Rebecca (Eddie) Alwan of The Woodlands, Jordan (Brittany) McCord of Riley, Kansas, Payton, Reese, and Mateya McCord of Newton, Kansas, Natalie and Madelyn Engle of Grapevine, Erin Rankin of Salem, Oregon, Allie and Kloie Rankin of Bushland, J.R., Rachel and Darby Barker of Big Spring, Chase Dement of Amarillo, and Skylar (Dan) Warren of Lubbock; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Kay Elliott of Levelland; and nephews, Dave (Brenda) Elliott of Frisco and Sammy (Anita) Elliott of Lubbock.
