Funeral Services for Deacon James D. Jones will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

James was born to Newt and Exenia Jones on November 2, 1927 in Wortham, Texas. He was a faithful deacon at Holy Temple Church of God In Christ. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather, brother, uncle. In October of 2007, James and M.O.B. celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He was the father of ten children. James was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War.

He was saved and filled with the precious Holy Ghost and Fire, a life-long member of Holy Temple Church of God In Christ in Levelland and a Deacon, serving under the late Elder Birtis McDaniel for over 34 years, the late Bishop W. H. Watson and Elder Ben Alexander until the Lord called him home.

On November 13, 2018 his Heavenly Father decided it was time for him to come home. He was preceded in death by his parents, his late wives, M.O.B. Jones, Barbara Jones, son, Jerry Hill, daughter, Lucy Mae Johnson, son-in-laws D.J. Johnson, and Willie Edward Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his Sons, James (Sharon) Jones Jr., & Willie B. (Glenda) Jones of Levelland, Frank Alonzo (Carolyn) Jones of Sudan, D. J. Johnson of Lubbock, and O.C. Jones; his Daughters: Janis Jones of Haywood, CA, Charlene Smith, of Levelland, Fallon (Jeremy) Bocko of Lubbock, Linda Johnson of Denver City, and Alma (Mark) Rutledge of Little Elm; one Brother: Robert Jones of Seminole; one Sister; Adele Halcey of California; 38 grandchildren; 36 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-great grandchild; and a host of precious nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who have become family.
