Jo Ann Alexander Price was born on October 1, 1927 to George Ross Alexander and Ethel Harris Alexander in Brownfield, Texas. She had an idyllic childhood with her three dearly loved brothers on their family ranch near Tokio, Texas and she loved telling stories of all the mischief they got into.
After graduating from Brownfield High School, Jo Ann attended Texas Tech and briefly worked as a secretary. On August 15, 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Erlan Gresham and they began their life together as farmers on the Gresham family farm near Levelland. They were partners in every way and together they built a thriving farm and family. In 1948, their first child, Mary Lynn, was born followed by Carol Beth in 1952 and Darrell Ross in 1957. Jo Ann was not only a busy farmer’s wife and mother, she was also very active in their church, First Assembly of God in Levelland. She served in varied rolls including Sunday school teacher and children’s church director. Her most well-known roll was as the director of the VBS children’s program every summer. She impacted the lives of many children, including the Price children who would become part of her family many years later.
In June of 1987, her beloved husband, Erlan, passed away and Jo Ann was immersed in grief and loneliness. Happily, two years later she met and married Jimmie Price and gained another large loving family. Jo Ann and Jimmie were inseparable and shared many adventures traveling many places. They lived their lives to the fullest and independently until recently when health issues slowed them down.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Erlan Gresham; daughter, Mary Lynn Sherley; son, Randy Price; and granddaughter-in-law, Linda Price.
