Joe Dane Barnette, 75, of Levelland passed from this life on Thursday, June 20, 2024. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 24,2024 at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Levelland.
He was born June 18, 1949 in Borger, Texas to Jerry and Jane Brock Barnette. Joe grew up in Borger and was a graduate of McKinney High School in 1968. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp as a Marine Sniper during the Vietnam War. Joe was honorably discharged from service in 1970. He moved to Lubbock in 1971, where he met and married Linda Goodpasture on February 4, 1972, in Levelland. Joe moved to Albuquerque in 1972 where he managed Furr’s Cafeteria. In 1974, Joe started his oilfield career in Borger. In 1979, he opened and operated Barnette Presto Line for fifteen years. Joe continued working in the oil field in Midland until retirement. He loved his family, friends, grandchildren and traveling to the Colorado and New Mexico mountains.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Jan Barnette and brother, Mike Barnette.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Linda Barnette of Levelland; son, Nathan Dane Barnette of Denver; daughter, Brooke Kuzina and husband John of Denver and grandchildren, Bryce and Jackson of Denver.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the Texan Club at South Plains College.
