Joe Randall Boggs

Joe Boggs was born on March 1, 1944 to Carl and Norma Brasick.  Their marriage was short-lived, and Joe spent his early years with his mother and her siblings at his grandparent’s farm in Pettit, Texas.  In 1951 he moved to Levelland with his mom and his aunt Joy, but continued to spend summers at the farm.  When Joe was 10, his mother married his adoptive father, Larry Boggs. 

Joe joined the army in 1966, attending X-ray school at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.  The rest of his military career was spent as an X-ray technician at Fort Campbell, KY where he made several lifelong friends. 

Joe studied at South Plains College and Texas Tech University before deciding to embark on a career in the restaurant business.  He owned or managed several franchise and independent restaurants in the Lubbock and Houston areas.  He especially enjoyed his time managing a Pizza Hut in Brenham, making several lifelong friends there as well.  After retirement Joe took over management of the family farm and began researching and documenting family history, sharing numerous photos of current and previous generations.   

Joe enjoyed golf, attending basketball games at South Plains and Texas Tech, and spending time at his cabin in Ruidoso.  He frequently posted photos of deer and classic cars he observed during his travels.  Joe had several favorite cafes in the Lubbock and Ruidoso area which he visited frequently.  In Levelland, he enjoyed meeting friends for morning coffee at McDonalds.  Joe was dedicated to his family and friends, caring for his uncle Lowell, and attending weddings, funerals, and holiday celebrations whenever possible. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence (Larry) and Norma Boggs, and grandparents, James and Bessie Reding and Ernest and Myrtle Boggs. 

He is survived by an aunt; an uncle; and nine cousins. 

Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 pm prior to the 2:00 pm Memorial Service on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Krestridge Funeral Home.
