John Burnett

John Marvin Burnett, 88, of Levelland passed away July 24, 2017 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Krestridge Funeral Home.

Marvin was born April 12, 1929 in Lubbock County, Texas to parents John L. and Evie Iola (Lumpkin) Burnett. He moved to Hockley County in 1945.

He married Emily Kathleen Montgomery on November 5, 1948 in Lamb County. They were married for 53 years before she passed away on July 15, 2000. Marvin married Jimmie Chatham Bailey on October 25, 2004, whom he had known for around fifty years.
They became reacquainted through their association with First Baptist Church and the Hockley County Senior Citizens, of which Marvin was a board member. They were married for 4 years until Jimmie's death on January 7, 2009.

Marvin was a master electrician and owned Cass Electric. He was a member of the Northwest Chapter of Myasthenia Gravis, and served the organization as treasurer.
In addition to his parents, John L. and Evie I. Burnett and spouses, Kathy and Jimmie, Marvin is also preceded in death by his infant sister, Nancy Jane Burnett.

He is survived by his siblings, Roland (Alice) Burnett of Ruidoso, Jerry (Joyce) Burnett of Brownfield, Anita (DeVern) Mandrell of Olton, Jim (Suzanne) Lewis of Levelland, and Betty (Charles) Biddles of Sparks, OK;
as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to John's caregivers, Irene Mendez, Rosa Childres, and Alejandra Segura.
