Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Douglas Carr, a man of endless heart and spirit. John was born to William (Bill) and Nancy Carr on November 28, 1952, and went to meet his Lord and Savior on March 2, 2026. He touched many lives with his friendship, loyalty and love.

John met his soulmate, Mary Mozelle (Mozy) Jones, in 1976 and they married on September 10, 1977. They spent forty-eight wonderful years together full of adventure, children, grandchildren, and world travels. John always referred to “my Mozy” as the best thing that ever happened to him. A staple in the West Texas community, John was a louder and larger than life friend to many. Mozy often mentioned that you could not take John anywhere; he would always find someone he knew, or thought he knew, or he wanted to know. He never met a stranger. John loved taking the time to talk to people and he made friends everywhere he went. John was a devoted friend, and he loved and cherished the men who experienced life and it’s triumphs and struggles alongside him. He considered his close friends brothers, and was blessed with several life-long friendships.

He leaves behind devoted friends including Dyrl Bush, Ted Davis, Keeno Henderson, Chester Israel, Skeet Lee Jones, and Jim Corbitt, who are his pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are William Jones Carr, Wesley Lowrance, Jayson Ellison, Matthew Jones, Jacob Jones and Augustus (Gus) Davis.

He is survived by his three children Catherine (Caydee) Elizabeth Carr, RayChel Mozelle Lowrance, and William Lafayette Jones Carr, and their spouses, who he loved as much as his own children, Wesley Ryan Lowrance and Sydney Michelle Carr; his joy in late life was for his grandchildren: Vivienne Belle Lowrance, Alice Mozelle Lowrance, Violet RayChelle Lowrance, Georgia Grace Carr, Henry Elgin Carr, and Callan James Carr. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Carr Ellison and her husband, Dewey Ellison, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He worked tirelessly for his family and never missed an opportunity to support or help if he was needed. He attended soccer matches, football games, twirling contests, jujitsu tournaments, cheer show-offs, and Grandparents days. Grandchildren were duly spoiled with car shows, guitars and lots of ice-cream and the best hugs.

Visitation is Friday, March 6, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Krestridge Funeral Home.
