Obituary

Missionary Lillie Mae Thomas, 95, of Levelland passed from this life on Friday, May 1,2026. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 9,2026 at First Baptist Church of Levelland. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Missionary Lillie Mae Thomas was born February 6, 1931, in Streetman, Texas to Elzie and Pauline (Murray) Wyatt. She grew up and attended school in Streetman, Texas. On February 26, 1946, she was joined in holy matrimony with W. T. “Pete” Thomas, and they later moved to Levelland, Texas.

To this union were born three girls, Minnie, Vivian, and Mylinda. She worked in the restaurant industry for more than thirty years before retiring.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a cherished friend, known for her faith and kindness. Lillie spent over 60 years serving her church community and taught her family the values of compassion and faith. She instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family. She led by example working in the church and ministering into the lives of others for over 60 years. Lillie’s home was a haven of prayer and support, not just for her children but for countless others in need of guidance and comfort. She was an enthusiastic cook, and she shared her passion for food preparation with all who visited.

Missionary Thomas was a faithful servant of God. She was a prayer warrior and a worshiper. She proudly proclaimed with conviction that “the church is my Life.” She and Elder Thomas founded Trinity Church of God in Christ where they ministered for years together until his death. She served as First Lady and a missionary of Trinity Church of God in Christ until the death of Pastor Thomas, then she continued to serve as the” Mother” of the Church under two other pastors until her health declined. There after she served under the watch care of Supt. J. E. and Lady Shirley Evans until her death.

Missionary Thomas is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Jake, Herman, and Elijah), three sisters (Rosetta, Elnora, and Betty Lou), one daughter (Minnie), one granddaughter (Ramona), and three great grandsons.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sister Vivian Thomas of Dallas, TX and Missionary Mylinda Graves of Levelland, TX; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; forty-four great-great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


There Are No Tears

There are no tears in heaven, nor grief of any kind

I leave this final tear drop to those I left behind

Though absent from the body I’m present with the Lord
