Lucinda Rae Pope

Lucinda “Cindy” Rae Pope was born on September 27, 1962, to Robert Eugene Yonts and Shirley Ann Schrage in Thermopolis Wyoming. She passed peacefully in her home in Levelland on Wednesday May 27, 2026. 

She was a woman of great strength and determination who overcame the challenges in her life with grit and passion. She was a fiercely devoted mother to her three children; Clifton “Nick”, Candace, and Colton. Throughout her time in the workforce, she served multiple roles in the retail and restaurant industries. In the early 2000's she became a dedicated stay at home mom to Candace and Colton. Becoming a member of the parent club for Levelland ISD, she spent her time making homemade decorations for all of their birthday parties and events. 

She was a tireless advocate for the needs of her children especially following Candace’s diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy at the age of 2. Eventually she became the Librarian for Levelland Academic Beginnings Center a position she joyfully held for nine years. Cindy loved reading, playing Monopoly Go, and looking after the family’s dogs Bandit, Phoebe and Bean.

She is survived her children and three brothers Cal, Clint, and Craig. Proceeding her in death are her mother Shirley and Father Robert. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 4,2026 at 2pm at Bibles N' Boots Cowboy Church.
