Lucy Rico was born on June 1, 1933, and her life journey came to a peaceful close on April 26, 2026. Her years were filled with devotion—to God, to family, and to a life of honest work. Lucy was a migrant worker, and through that demanding life, she demonstrated extraordinary strength, perseverance, and humility. She understood the meaning of hard days and long hours, and she embraced them with courage so her children could have a better future. Her hands carried the story of sacrifice; her heart carried the story of love.
Lucy was born in Chicago Illinois to Jose and Maria Torres. As a child Lucy grew up in Imlay City Michigan. She married Silberio Rico in 1951.
Lucy’s greatest pride was her family. She was the mother 8 children. Henry Rico, deceased, and his wife Petra Rico of Twin Falls, Idaho, Sylvia Hernandez of Sundown, Texas; Rosa Rico of Burley, Idaho; Becky Del Bosque and her husband Robert DelBosque of Heyburn, Idaho; Lupe Rico of Burley, Idaho; Maggie Fowler and her husband Doug Fowler of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Trinidad Valero and her husband Robert Valero of Nampa, Idaho and Patricia Castaneda and her husband Paul Castaneda of Rupert, Idaho. She has 28 grandchildren. She was blessed to witness and share her life with five generations of children and grandchildren, leading each one with strength, unwavering love and an faithful example that will continue to guide them for years to come.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Jose Torres and Maria Gonzales Torres, her husband Silberio Rico, her son Henry Rico, and her 2 granddaughters, Lisa Trevino and Florrita Palacios. Though her heart endured deep loss, Lucy remained strong, loving, and faithful, continuing to care for and support her family with grace and compassion.
She is remembered by her family for her quiet strength and her deep faith in God. Lucy believed in living a life centered on love, service, and trust in the Lord. Her faith was loud and steady—something her family could lean on in both good times and times of sorrow.
Lucy gave freely of what she had—whether that was time, encouragement, or simply a warm presence. Her home was a place of comfort and belonging. You could always depend on Lucy for kindness, wisdom shaped by experience, and a heart that listened without judgment.
Lucy’s life reminds us that greatness is often found in everyday acts of love and sacrifice. She may not have sought recognition, but her impact is immeasurable. Her strength lives on in her children, her grandchildren, and all those who were blessed to call her family.
Though our hearts feel the pain of her absence today, we find comfort knowing that Lucy has been reunited with loved ones who went before her and that she now rests in God’s eternal peace. Her journey here is complete, but her legacy will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations to come.
Lucy Rico will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
