Mary Ann Thompson

Mary Ann Thompson Anthony, 87, of Lubbock, peacefully passed away on May 14, 2026, at Wedgewood South.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Krestridge Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at the Levelland Cemetery.

Mary Ann was born on April 2, 1939, to Walter and Mary Chupik Pace. As the daughter of a military father, she spent much of her childhood living in many different places across the country, though San Francisco always remained her favorite home.

She began her professional career in San Francisco as a legal secretary before returning temporarily to Levelland in 1970 to help her parents care for a sick relative. During that time, she met Wayne Thompson, and the two were married on August 14, 1971, in Levelland, Texas. Together they built a home where Mary Ann embraced her role as wife and mother until Wayne’s passing in 1995.

Later in life, Mary Ann married Joe Anthony in August of 2002. They shared many happy years together until Joe’s passing on January 11, 2026.

Mary Ann had a deep love for animals and was a lifelong supporter and member of the Humane Society. In her retirement years, she greatly enjoyed playing bridge and achieved the distinguished honor of Grand Life Master. She was also a devoted member of Green Lawn Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Pace; her husbands, Wayne Thompson and Joe Anthony; and her stepson, Blake Anthony.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Rene’ Davis and husband Steve, and Kay Jones and husband David; her stepdaughter, Jill Allison and husband Trent; grandchildren Jon Anderson, Kayla Wendt and husband Andrew, Josh Davis and wife Dianne, Hayley Sheets and husband Layne, and Cason Davis; and great-grandchildren Brynn Sheets, Martin Sheets, Ruby Sheets, Boone Sheets, Anderson Wendt, Owen Wendt, Walker Wendt, and Liam Anderson. She was also survived by her beloved dog Jenny.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Grayce Hospice and Wedgewood South for the loving care and compassion shown to Mary Ann during her final days. The family also wishes to thank Joe and Mary Ann’s Raider Ranch family for the joy and friendship they shared throughout their retirement years.
