Mary Joyce Jackson

Mary Joyce Jackson, 89, of Levelland passed from this life on January 15, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

She was born December 23, 1934 in Sudan to William and Elizabeth Pryor.  Mary graduated from Sudan High School in 1953.  She married RD “Tic” Jackson on January 10, 1974 in Lovington, NM and moved to Levelland along with her son Kerry to blend their new family with Jimmy Tim and Joel.

Mary and RD loved antiques and began going to estate sales all over Texas.  They bought and refurbished old furniture and turned them into beautiful pieces.   Countless hours were spent on their passion, so they decided to open an antique store.  When antiques became increasingly hard to find, Mary added fine gifts to the store and the store remained very successful.

By supporting her friends at Your Shop, Mary was one of the best dressed in town.  She might have hidden all the receipts in the top of her closet so Tic wouldn’t see how much she had spent.

While keeping a storefront, Mary and Tic managed to support their grandkids in all of their sporting events.  After retiring and selling Mary’s Antiques and Fine Gifts, Mary reluctantly went all over town with Tic to ask anyone with a pecan tree if they could collect their pecans.  To say the least, Mary was very embarrassed and stayed in the car out of sight in case Tic were to fall.  They would then go to Sugar Bakers and sell the fruits of their labor.

Mary was a great cook and there was hardly ever a time when the kids visited that she wasn’t making her homemade chocolate chip cookies.  Some of the family’s favorites were Italian cream cake, peanut patties, peanut brittle, plain pound cake (because Kaden didn’t like nuts) and last but not least, trash.

She attended Second Baptist Church and took care of her dog, Jojo.

Mary was a great mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be greatly missed and remembered fondly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, RD Jackson; parents, William and Elizabeth Pryor; sons, Danny Tim Hatley and Jimmy Tim Jackson; daughter, Scarlett Claunch; and granddaughter, Jessica Hatley.

Mary is survived by her children, Kerry Hatley and wife Angie, Joel Jackson and wife Cindy, Shannon Edwards and husband Larry and Donna Hatley; grandchildren, Meagan Kennemer and husband Chad,  Kris Hatley and wife Kayla, Kyler Hatley, Kaden Hatley and wife Megan, Jason Jackson and wife Annette, Jami Bevins and husband Troy, Jenny Jackson, Trey and Chelsi Welch; 9 great grandchildren plus one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Krestridge Funeral Home.  (806) 897-1111
