Melvin Parkinson II

Melvin Eugene Parkinson II, 69, of Levelland passed from this life on June 19, 2020.  Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at First Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

He was born July 29, 1950 in Levelland to Gene and Geneva Parkinson.  Melvin graduated from Levelland High School in 1969.  He married Jan Fred on June 4, 1971.  Melvin and Jan made their home in Levelland for 49 years.

For most of his working career, Melvin worked for Parkinson Electronics.  At the time of his illness, he was working his dream job at South Plains College.  Melvin loved taking care of the farm and each of his co-workers.

He adored his family and enjoyed watching them participate in their various activities.  From basketball, choir concerts, football, baseball, softball, stock shows and everything in between, Melvin was always there cheering them on.

Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing just about anything, and hotrods.  He was currently rebuilding a 1958 Chevrolet Panel Wagon.  Melvin was a member of First Baptist Church where he volunteered in the nursery for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Geneva Parkinson; brother, Mickey Parkinson; and granddaughter, Tayla Parkinson.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Jan Parkinson; daughters, Janay (Cody) Crenshaw, Mendy Parkinson and Tyler Parkinson; sons, Monty (Robyn) Parkinson and Jonny (Amber) Parkinson; brothers, Terry (Katherine) Parkinson and Tommy Parkinson; sister, Toni (Terry) Wilson; and 5 grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff on the Oncology Floor at Covenant Lubbock for their care of Melvin.
