Minnie LoRee Stokes

Minnie Lo Ree Stokes took her first step to walk with our Lord and Savior on December 4, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at De Leon Cemetery in De Leon, Texas. She was born in De Leon Texas on February 14, 1924. She was one of six children born to the late Jack and Luvina Otwell.

She married Tommie L.C. Stokes November 14, 1942. They moved to Sundown, Texas in 1952. Dad worked in the oilfield and Mom worked as a waitress. Her whole world consisted of God and her only child. She attended the First Baptist Church in Sundown and loved to hear the word of God and sing to His glory. She was a kind, loving and forgiving person. She loved to be outside working in the yard and garden. She loved to crochet and she has many pieces to show for it. She won Best in Show at the Panhandle South Plains Fair with a bedspread she crocheted and her pride shown like a beacon in the night. When the grandchildren and great grandchildren come to visit, they would run to Grandma Ree first and she thought that was grand. Dad's love of fishing was not on her list of things to do, but out of her love for him she would go.

She leaves behind one beloved daughter, ReNeta Ocanas and husband Adam of Sundown; brother, Corbett Otwell (Beverly) of De Leon; sister, Juanita Otwell of Comanche; grandchildren, Joshua Shewmake, Christina Garza (Robert), Deborah Ocanas (Harley Guajardo), Kelly Ocanas, Adam Ocanas Jr (Jessica), Laura Ortiz, Vanessa Ocanas, and Veronica Lacy (Patrick); 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and 4 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 brothers, Delbert Otwell (Bernice) and  Finas Ray Otwell; and 1 sister, Odell McKinney.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Krestridge Funeral Home. (806)897-1111
