Norma Yvonne Ayers

Norma Yvonne Ayers,86, of Levelland passed from this life on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services take place at First Baptist Church of Levelland on Thursday, August 14,2025 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery beginning at 2:00pm.

Born on May 11th, 1939, in Graham, Texas, to G.C. and Laura Bevers, Von, as she was known by her family and friends, could fill any room and heart with joy and laughter. The oldest of four children, Von’s love for the Lord Jesus inspired who she was and how she loved others. And she loved each one well…

A proud graduate of Ropes High School, Von valiantly led her girls’ Lady Eagle Basketball Team to a State Championship title in 1957 with a season high of 37 points in a game.

On June 2, 1957, Von joyfully gave her love and devotion in marriage to Jack Ayers. This union spanned a 68 year adventure of laughter, devotion, and longevity. The Lord blessed them with a family: Lynn Ross, Alan Keith, and Gayle Yvonne. Within a short time of their marriage, the Lord and the community of First Baptist Church Ropesville began to speak to her heart, and Von gave her life to Christ, beginning a beautiful journey of faith that watered the lives of others like dew on the morning grass.

As her faith took root, Von grew in her service for the community of all people. Serving in the church at FBC Ropes and then FBC Levelland for the past 55 years, she served as a Sunday School teacher of children and adults, most recently as the teacher of The Lamplighters Class for women. Whether she was reading the story to the Vacation Bible School children or preparing her lesson for the women’s class, Von took delight in sharing the hope and joy in the Lord that she knew.

Von earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in counseling, both from Texas Tech University. As a teacher for 14 years and a school counselor for 12 years, Von Ayers invested in people.

Von is survived by her loving husband, Jack Ayers of Levelland, Texas; her son, Alan Ayers and wife, Kala of Lubbock, TX; her daughter, Dr. Gayle Ayers of Lubbock, Texas; her grandson, Lance Ayers and wife, Jessica; her granddaughter, Lindsay Ayers Hardin and husband, Spencer Hardin; and her sisters, Mary Nell Dalton of Lubbock, Texas, and Joyce Bevers McNabb and husband, Bobby McNabb of Ropesville, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her son, Lynn Ross Ayers; her father G.C. Bevers; her mother, Laura Bevers; and her brother, Bobby Dean Bevers.

Services with integrity, pride, and honor are under the direction of Krestridge Funeral Home. (806) 897-1111
