Robert Gale Baldwin, 73, of Slaton, Texas, formerly of Levelland, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:35am in his home surrounded by his wife and children. A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 11,2024 at 2pm at Krestridge Funeral Home, 505 Austin Street, Levelland, Texas.
Robert was born on September 14th, 1950, in Pierre, South Dakota to Kenneth (Lucky) Lucien Baldwin and Anna Iversen Baldwin. Robert attended Sundown Elementary School until the 6th grade when the family moved to Levelland, and he attended high school there.
Robert married Carla Sanders on June 21st, 1972, in Levelland, Texas. They had three children: Peggy Ann, Sherry Diane, and Casey Edward. Robert and Carla divorced in 1992. Robert married Kay Choate in Clovis, New Mexico on August 9th, 2000. Robert worked as a welder when he left high school, then he began driving a bus for TNM&O when the oilfield slowed down. He did this for several years before he started driving a truck for Robertson Bonded Warehouse in Lubbock, Texas. When he retired from truck driving, he worked for Reece Golf Course and Meadow Brook Golf Course, mowing and taking care of the carts. Robert had a passion for playing golf, and he and Kay spent many years on the golf course and in Jack and Jill golf tournaments. When he was younger, he loved playing in the church softball league and coaching his kids in whichever sport they were playing.
Robert was proceeded in death by his dad, Kenneth on December 6th, 1984, and mom, Anna on February 4th, 2004, both in Levelland, Texas. He is survived by his wife Kay, older sister Barbara Shideler and husband Phil, daughter’s Peggy and husband Casey Cook and Sherry and husband Danny Milburn, all of Lubbock, Texas; son Casey and wife Stephanie Baldwin of Levelland, Texas, step-son’s Darby and Treva Simonton, Terry and Stephanie Simonton; and daughter Ashley and husband Nick Schanaman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandkids Michael Mckibben, Taylor Sims, Kalli Walker, Kayelee Swarb, Emma Milburn, Jonathan Milburn, Ryland Baldwin, Isabelle Baldwin, Reese Wooden, Quinn Wooden, Emerson Schanaman, Bennett Schanaman, James Simonton, Austin Simonton, Samuel Simonton, Makayla Baxter, William Simonton, Brandon Simonton, ; great grandkids Crosston and Elijah Walker, Samson McKibben, Brennix and Memphis Simonton, Blakely, Brooks, and Blair Baxter.
