Siemon Mendez

Siemon Mendez, 68, of Levelland passed from this life on August 1, 2018. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Krestridge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

He was born June 27, 1950 in Smiley, Texas to parents Guadalupe and Sara (Molina) Mendez. He graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1968. Siemon received his A.A. in Law Enforcement/Pre-law at South Plains College in 1970, and his B.A. in Secondary Education from Texas Tech in 1978.

Siemon served our country in the US Army and the US Army Reserves. He was awarded an Army Commendation of the Medal for Meritorious Service in 1975 and 1980.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Siemon had a career with USPS spanning from 1976 to 2011 in Lubbock, Denver City and as postmaster in Lamesa. He was employed at the Hockley County Senior Citizens from 2013 until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings, Guadalupe Mendez, Jr., Geneva Rendon, Henry Mendez, Dora Mendez, Porfirio Mendez, and Aurelio Mendez.

Siemon is survived by his wife, Bernardine Mendez; daughters, Elvira Mendez, Monica (Andrew) Guerra, and Rebecca (Brady) Wright; four grandchildren, Lexi Guerra, Lauryn Guerra, Nolan Wright and Kinsler Wright; siblings, Justo ''Gus'' (Savannah) Mendez of Pecos, Larry (Delores) Mendez of Lubbock, Yolanda (Marin) Gavina of Hereford, Tony Mendez, Irene Mendez, Bobby (Julie) Mendez, Tomas (Deborah) Mendez, Jorge (Suzanne) Mendez all of Levelland, Mary (George) Romero of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Adan (Glady) Mendez of Amarillo, and Hermila ''Nina'' (Rick) Alegria of Lubbock.
