Steven Douglas Barker was born April 10, 1979 in Levelland, Texas, to Doug and Janet Barker.
He was met by his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas.
Family left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Amy, and his three step-sons, Andrew, Tyler, and Matthew; mother, Janet Barker; his sister’s Laurie (Kirk) Jones- Pritchett and Tracey (Paul) Sadiq. His niece and nephews, Alyssa (Kris) Kern, Tyson Jones, Trenton Jones, Tandon Jones, and his great nephews; Lincoln and Jackson Kern. Also left to treasure his memory are his three best buds; Jeremy Gartrell, Daniel Glass, and Lupe Sanchez.
He was preceded in death by his father, Doug Barker, and his grandparents Maye and Bob Baker, Chuck and Carolyn Barker, and Ruth Barker.
He received an Associate’s Degree from Alvin Community College and was pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree at University of Houston – Clearlake.
Steven recently completed his CDL and was driving a truck until his illness. Steven loved to travel and visit the beach. He loved watching football and was a devoted Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a very good artist. He loved history and learning about the wreckage of the Titanic. He taught the word of God beside Brother Gilbert (Gil) Ramirez at Park Drive Baptist Church.
Steven battled Multiple Myeloma cancer for ten years. He was a hope and inspiration to others who were fighting illnesses or dealing with difficult situations.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 16, from 5-7 P.M. at Krestridge Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday, December 17, at 2 P.M. at Park Drive Baptist Church. Brother Gilbert (Gil) Ramirez will be officiating the services. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Levelland, Texas.
In Lieu of flowers, Steven’s family asks that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
