Velma Smith

Velma Smith, 94, of Sundown passed from this life on May 18,2024 Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in the Sundown City Cemetery.

Velma was born in Leon County, Texas to Finis Roland and Frankie Elizabeth Connell Black on June 25,1929. She married JC Smith in Centerville, Texas on August 31,1946. Velma attended Sundown Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and sold Avon for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Finis and Frankie Black; husband, JC Smith; brothers, Edward Black, J.C. Black and David Black along with her sister, Mary Norrie.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include daughter, Cathy Hill and husband, Hershell; son, Richard and wife, Lois Smith; grandson, Kenneth and wife Les Lee Hill; granddaughter; Kim Hill; great grandchildren, Nick and Jessica Hill, Kendra and Smith McLelland, Kayla Hill and Jay Cee Hill; great great granddaughter, Macky McLelland; sister, Ruby and Gerald Jordan and brother, Alan Black.
