Vickie Sue Redford

Vickie Sue Redford, 74, died peacefully at her home in Lubbock on May 16, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 1, 2024, at Second Baptist Church in Levelland, with Brother Michael Holster officiating.

Born in Levelland, Texas on February 20, 1950, Vickie spent time with her beloved grandparents Paw Paw and Granny (James and Bessie Newton) and was later adopted and raised by her maternal aunt, Jo Barnes (Bray) and her husband (Jimmie Barnes), whom she would always know as Mother and Daddy.

After graduating from Levelland High School in 1968, Vickie moved to Lubbock where she met her future husband, Bob. They married in 1971 and lived in Leander, Abilene, Lamesa, and Lubbock before settling back in Levelland.

After starting a family, Vickie went to college and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas Tech University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with top honors in 1982. She was a teacher at Cactus Elementary and Levelland Middle School for over 25 years before retiring in 2008.

Bob and Vickie spent their golden years cruising around the world and spending time at their happy place on Lake Leon.

Vickie was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She never missed a sporting event or extracurricular activity and was always there when you needed help or if you just needed someone who cared. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Levelland.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, her bonus father, Pete Bray, sister, Donna Willis, and her precious Bob. She is survived by her daughter Susan, son Brent, daughters-in-law Shanna, Lindsay, and Marie, and her grandchildren Molly, Ava, and Benjamin, along with her faithful companion, Lexi.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Second Baptist Church (Levelland) or Lubbock Animal Shelter.

Services with integrity, pride and honor are under the direction of Krestridge Funeral Home. (806) 897-1111
