Virginia Rico

Virginia H. Rico, 72, of Levelland passed from this life on December 18, 2021.

She was born on September 18, 1949 in Austin.  Virginia was the third child out of 12 siblings.  She was the oldest daughter of Frank and Pauline Hernandez.

Virginia’s dream was to join the service.  However, life had a different path for her and she started a new chapter by marrying Pete Rico in 1964.  Virginia and Pete moved to different states to work before settling down in Sundown in 1972.

She is preceded in death by husband, Pete Rico; granddaughter, Megan Garcia; parents, Frank and Pauline Hernandez; ad brother, Frank Hernandez, Jr.

Virginia is survived by children, Arthur (Gracie) Rico of Levelland, Teresa Smith of Baytown, Rudy (Devora) Rico of Sundown, Elena (Jesse) Guzman of Lubbock and Connie (Aubrey) Cook of Houston; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

She loved going to the casino, playing cards, dancing the twist, sewing and baking.  Virginia had been a member of the San Isidro Catholic Church for many years until recently being introduced to Park Drive Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Park Drive Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the Sundown Cemetery.
