William Clements

William Clements born June 21, 1931 passed away on December 22, 2020 to join his heavenly father. William is preceded in death by his Parents, 5 Sisters 4 Brothers and one great grandson. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Clements of 65 years, 3 Daughters; Betty Monger Husband Rick, Terri Thompson husband Scotty, Sherri Clements, 3 Grandsons, 2 Granddaughters, 8 Great grandchildren and one Great Great grandson.

William lived as a Christian servant in all he did including serving on Sundown School Board for 25 years, South Plains College Board of Regents for 26 years, Hockley County Appraisal Board for 38 years, Hockley Co. Farm Bureau Board for 40 years, Texas School Board Association for several years and many Cotton Gin Boards. Education & Civil Service was an enormous inspiration in his life. His daughters and grandchildren all attended the college he so proudly served! He loved life watching his family grow and prosper while being a pillar of the community. He was an example of Christian love to any that met him and all who knew him knew of his faith and belief of HEAVEN. REST IN PEACE DADDY.GRANDPA, WILLIAM and friend.

William married Elizabeth Conway on February 4 1955. He Farmed all his life and lived for 60 years in Hockley County building a humble life founded in God as a Member of the CITY PARK CHURCH of CHRIST.

William and Beth were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters to raise. Life on the farm had its challenges and rewards. William raised cotton crops, maize crops, and cattle. He supplemented the needs of life with milk cows selling milk to people in town and providing for the family. He also built a huge chicken coop and sold eggs to the store in Sundown, shared with friends, and provided eggs to the hospital in Levelland. The farm operations allowed William to share his knowledge with children from the Sundown School being able to hire them to help move irrigation pipe and hoe the weeds from the cotton fields. Through the years those children would come back as adults and share sweet memories from working on the farm for William.

William worked hard and his girls were right beside him sharing in struggles and joys of life wanting for nothing. His three daughters had their rivalries as all siblings do but each had their own passions. He made sure his girls had the chance to reach for their dreams! His daughters all attended and graduated from SPC. Betty started a family and Terri and Sherri went on to Texas Tech and A&M.

Grandchildren Shawnalee, Justin, Myriah, Riley and William sparked a new light in this majestic man. As soon as they could walk, he made sure they spent time with him. Since a lot of his time was spent on a tractor so were the grandkids. He found a way to sing church hymns and make a happy place in a very small cab of a tractor for each of his grandchildren. He always had a song in his heart that escaped his mouth and if you were around you couldn’t help but join right in. He made sure all his grandchildren understood the value of hard work and family time. He spent time playing 42, canasta, skip Bo and dominoes with whoever was around the card table. This only came after a hard days work and was usually over a little bit of coke in a small glass and a little bit of M&M’s or ice-cream; whatever was on hand.

He took time to travel and support his service responsibilities traveling frequently with his wife and every now and then his grand kids. He managed to make a vacation for his family out of a responsibility he had taken on. He took the time during the busy harvest season to visit the Gin or COOP where everyone knew exactly who he was! His grandkids remember getting a box of Towels or Popcorn during the holidays which just seemed like the greatest thing! It was like he was as superhero!

If life ever got the best of him, you would never know because he gave all his trials and tribulations to God. He will be greatly missed but knowing of his Faith and Love for the Lord should give peace to all who know him. His life should shine like a beacon for all to follow so that we may all be together again.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Krestridge Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the Terry County Memorial Park in Brownfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hockley County Meals on Wheels, 1202 Houston, Levelland, Texas 79336.
