Willie Jones, Sr.

Willis Jones, Sr. was born March 13, 1922 in Wortham, Texas to the parentage of Newt and Evenia (Harper) Jones.

He moved to San Diego, California where he met and married Estella M. Nelson on February 18, 1968. He had a long and loving relationship with his wife for over 40 years. In 1990, he and his wife decided to retire to Levelland, Texas. They were united with Evans Chapel Church of God in Christ under the pastorage of Supt. J.E. Evans in Morton, Texas.

Willie had a passion for the game of dominoes and played daily with family and friends. One of his favorite hobbies was eating! He served in the United States Army and was in the janitorial business as well as an avid collector. Willie was the Jones version of Sanford and Son. He truly enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Mark Jones, and daughters Josephine Jones and Joyce Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Willie Jones, Jr. of Virginia; daughters, Lisa Jones and Bridgett Gross both of California; brothers, James Jones of Levelland and Robert Jones of Seminole; sister, Adele Halcey of California; 7 grandsons; 6 granddaughters; several great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
